We are looking for an ambitious Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and develop their career in a highly specialized, technical industry.
The RoleThis is an entry-to-junior level role designed for a "hands-on" engineer who wants to see their designs move from the computer screen to the fabrication floor. As a Junior Project Engineer, you will support the full project lifecycle. You will start by mastering 3D modeling and engineering calculations, eventually taking on more responsibility for project management, budgeting, and client coordination under the mentorship of our senior team.
Key Responsibilities- Design & Drafting: Assist in developing detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings for custom FRP equipment (tanks, piping, ducting, scrubbers) using SolidWorks.
- Engineering Support: Perform fundamental engineering calculations for design validation, including stress analysis and structural sizing, ensuring compliance with industry codes (ASME RTP-1, ASTM).
- Project Coordination: Support senior engineers in managing project scopes, creating schedules, and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Shop Floor Integration: Work closely with the production team to understand manufacturing processes and ensure designs are optimized for fabrication (DFM).
- Documentation: Prepare technical specifications, quality control packages, and project manuals.
- Professional Growth: Actively work toward P.Eng. licensure while learning the unique properties of corrosion-resistant composite materials.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired:- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Licensing: Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) with PEO.
- Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of SolidWorks (CSWA or academic projects).
- Location: Based in Brockville, ON, or willing to relocate.
- Mindset: A "can-do" attitude with a willingness to spend time on the shop floor to learn how things are built.
- Organization: Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred (Assets):- Internship or Co-op experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD for 2D layouts.
- An interest in material science, specifically composites or plastics.
- Basic understanding of stress analysis or FEA software.
