We are a busy, growing bakery cafe looking for a Kitchen Operations Manager who can help keep our production running smoothly. The ideal person has experience in a restaurant, cafe, or bakery and enjoys working in a hands-on environment. This role would suit someone who likes improving systems, supporting staff, and helping a small team stay organized during peak times.
About the RoleIn this position, you will work closely with both the owner and the kitchen team. You will help keep daily production on track, support consistency and quality, and look for ways to make our kitchen flow better as we grow. This is a practical role where you will be involved directly in the work while also helping guide the team towards our growth goals.
Responsibilities- Plan daily production levels
- Support the kitchen team during daily production
- Help keep prep, timing, and quality consistent
- Assist with training and coaching when needed
- Look for ways to improve workflow and organization
- Help with storage, labelling, stock rotation, and general kitchen structure
- Communicate regularly with leadership about what is working and what needs attention
- Work with the owner on growth strategy and spearhead implementation
- Assist in planning and testing new menu items
- Jump in wherever needed, since we are a small team
What We Are Looking For- Experience in a cafe, bakery, or restaurant leadership role (supervisor, lead, AGM, production lead, head baker, etc.)
- Someone who is comfortable being hands-on
- Good communication and people skills
- Computer literate
- Someone who is open to change and comfortable helping a small business grow
- Able to support and follow the owner’s vision while helping guide the team through adjustments
- Enjoys creating structure and improving systems
- Calm, supportive leadership style
- Comfortable working mornings and weekends
- Not required to be a chef, but you should have solid kitchen experience and a love of food
