PurposeThe Training Content Creator designs, develops, and maintains high-quality, engaging learning content that supports safe, effective, and compliant work practices across the mine site.
This role applies adult learning principles, instructional design, and multimedia development to translate complex operational, safety, and regulatory requirements into practical, engaging training materials that improve knowledge retention and on-the-job performance.
ResponsibilitiesInstructional Design & Adult Learning- Design training content grounded in adult learning principles, recognizing how adults learn through experience, relevance, problem-solving, and application.
- Apply instructional design methodologies to develop structured, outcome-based learning materials.
- Ensure training content is practical, task-focused, and aligned with how work is actually performed in the field.
- Incorporate multiple learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to maximize engagement and retention.
Multimedia Content Development- Develop engaging multimedia training materials, including videos, animations, graphics, voiceover presentations, and interactive modules.
- Create site-specific visual content (e.g., photos, diagrams, short videos) to reinforce real-world application.
- Produce clear, concise micro-learning content for use in pre-shift meetings, refreshers, and just-in-time learning.
- Ensure multimedia content meets quality, accessibility, and usability standards.
Training Effectiveness & Engagement- Design learning experiences that actively engage learners rather than relying on passive information delivery.
- Incorporate scenarios, case studies, simulations, and storytelling to reinforce key safety and operational concepts.
- Work with trainers and supervisors to support effective delivery of content in classroom, field-based, and blended learning environments.
- Continuously improve content based on learner feedback, performance data, and incident learnings.
Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts- Partner with safety, operations, maintenance, emergency response, and technical SMEs to gather accurate information and translate it into learner-friendly content.
- Validate technical accuracy and regulatory alignment of all training materials.
- Support change management by updating training content when procedures, equipment, or risks change.
Content Governance & Continuous Improvement- Ensure training materials are current, controlled, and aligned with site standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support document control and version management for learning materials
- Track and manage content updates, reviews, and retirements.
- Identify opportunities to modernize and improve training approaches through new tools, technologies, and methods.
Training and Education- Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Communications, Multimedia, Learning & Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience developing training or learning content in industrial, mining, construction, or safety-critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying adult learning principles to practical workplace training.
- Experience creating multimedia content (video, graphics, interactive learning).
- Proficiency with multimedia and content development tools (e.g., video editing, presentation software, learning platforms).
- Strong writing and visual communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical and regulatory information into clear, engaging learning content.
