Status: 100% load (maternity leave)
Start date: Mid-August 2026
Job Purpose:The individual in this position should have a sound understanding of diverse teaching and learning strategies as well as experience teaching diverse learners. Curricular development experience is an asset.
Specific ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have demonstrated success in teaching, an understanding of and sensitivity to the way in which students learn, and an ability to work in a collegial manner. In addition, they will be up-to-date on current curricular trends, integration of technology and involved in education beyond the classroom.
- Planning and implementing a learning strategies course offered to grade 10 students.
- Assessment and reporting of student progress
- Develop and implement student support programs such as self-management, organization, time management and study skills, in collaboration with learning strategists that would be offered during non-class periods.
- Implement responsive, short-term strategic instruction (6-week blocks) based on ongoing student needs assessments.
- Collaborate with the classroom teachers to differentiate instruction.
- Oversee study hall for senior school and pre-u students.
- Collaborate with educators and work with students to design and implement IEPs for students receiving tier 1 and tier 2 indirect services
- Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school
- Ability to work in both English and French
Qualifications- Quebec Teaching Licence required
- Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners and to differentiate instruction accordingly
- Understanding of scaffolded cognitive and metacognitive instruction
- Experience teaching adolescents is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to employ a wide variety of teaching techniques including utilization of technology
- Collaborative, energetic teacher with demonstrated creativity and passion for teaching;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration and parents;
- Exemplary communication, problem solving, negotiation and mediation skills;
- Concern for the whole student, not just academics;
- Effective team member;
- Strong attention to detail, organization and planning.
