The Life Enrichment Assistant will work closely with the Life Enrichment Manager to develop, organize, and deliver innovative and engaging programs that meet the diverse needs of our residents. This role involves assessing residents' individual interests and needs, developing engaging activities, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered programs in accordance with established standards.
Key Responsibilities:Support the Life Enrichment Manager with various tasks, including:
- Conducting initial resident orientations and assessing individual interests and activity needs.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs that address the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and intellectual needs of residents.
- Adapt resident programming as needed to ensure enhanced protocols and safety guidelines are met.
- Communicating departmental activities and updates to residents, families, and staff to encourage community participation.
- Encourage resident involvement in the planning and development of programs; adjust programs accordingly.
- Reporting any changes in resident behavior or concerns to care staff.
- Utilizing the Welbi platform to create and manage weekly and monthly activity calendars that are tailored to residents’ needs.
- Ensuring all resident profiles are updated in the Welbi system.
- Facilitating and overseeing the execution of activities, both independently or with volunteer support.
- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPI’s) to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Sharing relevant department updates at monthly Resident Forum, weekly department/resident meetings, and daily leadership stand-ups.
- As required, assist with providing work support to staff, volunteers, and students.
- Collaborating with other departments to fulfill resident requests.
- Ensuring person-centered care and engagement.
- Foster positive social interactions and emotional self-awareness in daily activities.
- Must be able to flex work hours depending on the needs of the community.
- Perform any other tasks as required.
Qualifications:- Class 5 Driver's License required
- Good driving record (no more than 4 demerits and no serious driving offence)
- Must be comfortable driving a large, 15-passenger van
- 2+ years' experience in recreational programming for a senior population is considered an asset
- Diploma in Recreation/Leisure Studies, or a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Gerontology, or related field, or a Recreation/Activation certificate. First Aid training is an asset.
- Completion of CanFitPro Exercise Program and ProServe Liquor Training is considered an asset (responsible beverage training).
- Experience in healthcare or hospitality settings is an asset.
- Strong understanding of older adult needs with an empathic approach.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and excellent communication skills.
- Creative, with the ability to engage, inspire, and motivate others.
- Familiarity with local community services and clubs.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
- Strong computer skills, with a high attention to detail and creativity.
- Proven work experience showing always being a team player, great communicator, and ability to problem solve.
- Positive, inclusive approach with a focus on meaningful social interactions and emotional well-being for residents.
