Helix Manufacturing is seeking a full-time, experienced CNC machinist/programmer. We are a family run, small business and thus enjoy an easygoing work environment that is at times, fast-paced. RESPONSIBLITIES:- Read and interpret drawings, 3D models and/or blueprints.
- Write and/or modify CNC programs using GibbsCAM.
- Study sample parts to determine best sequence of operations.
- Measure, cut and lay out material and work pieces.
- Complete set-ups, follow sheet requirements, plan sequence of operations and check dimensions.
- Inspect and verify parts as set out in drawings, models and/or blueprints.
- Complete jobs on time.
- Assist in various other projects found within a machine shop/manufacturing environment.
- Effectively operate and maintain a variety of CNC machines, i.e. mills and lathes, and tooling.
- Maintain a clean work station as well as working in a safe and responsible manner following all safety protocols as set out by WorkSafe BC and Helix Manufacturing Ltd.
- Empty chip bins and at times, garbage.
- Receive, load and unload materials and deliveries.
- Maintain a positive, respectful work ethic.
- Perform all other tasks as directed.
REQUIREMENTS:- Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of, and be able to, effectively operate CNC mills and lathes.
- Must have a detailed knowledge of Cam and G-Code macro programming.
- Must be able to drive and operate a forklift and overhead crane.
- Be organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Have strong attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines.
- Be a team player with a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills.
- Be willing to lean new things, such as operating gear cutting machines, etc.
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to read and write in English.
ASSETS:- Red Seal.
- Knowledge of manual mills and lathes.
