As part of the Mill Operations Management Team, the Mill Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and leading the Mill crew in the day-to-day operations of the mineral processing plant at site. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable processing of ore through the mill while leading the team of operators and maintaining strict compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Job Responsibilities:- Supervise all mill operations: crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, paste, and tailings.
- Monitor process and equipment performance to maximize efficiency, grade, and recovery.
- Lead and coach mill operators; ensure safety, procedures, and performance standards.
- Investigate safety incidents and report to Mill Manager.
- Conduct evaluations, training, and team development.
- Enforce safety protocols and lead safety meetings, hazard assessments, and investigations.
- Coordinate with maintenance to reduce downtime and manage preventive maintenance and parts.
- Oversee quality control and product sampling with Met Lab.
- Support production planning and meet processing targets.
- Ensure environmental compliance (water, waste, emissions).
- Report on production, safety, equipment, and compliance.
- Work with engineers to optimize recovery and resolve issues.
- Lead lockout/tagout activities and shutdown prep.
- Conduct toolbox meetings at shift start.
Job Qualifications and Skills:- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in mineral processing operations, with a solid background in a mill/concentrator setting. Experience in crushing, grinding and flotation a plus.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team of processing personnel.
- Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations within the mining industry.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in managing complex processing challenges.
- Familiarity with budget management and cost control in processing operations.
- Proficient in using computerized systems for data analysis, reporting, and process control.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teams and stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits:We offer a competitive salary of $115,500/year base with a monthly premium on top. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
