The Operations Assistant is responsible for the accurate and timely counting and reconciliation of materials inventory, processing of material deliveries and outbound shipments of finished goods to the warehouse, and auditing of production floor processes. This individual reports to the Operations Manager and will support the plant operations to ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in all operations. Hours for this position are 6:30 am - 3 pm.
Core Responsibilities:60% Inventory Management- Daily/weekly/monthly cycle counting of various production materials and ingredients to ensure accurate inventory levels
- Reconcile inventory with production tracking to identify issues
- Investigating material discrepancies and solve for root cause
20% Shipping/Receiving- Providing support for the Shipping/Receiving function daily where staffing gaps exist
- Providing vacation or leave coverage for shipper/receiver and material handlers
- Duties including loading, unloading of trailers, movement of materials and receiving materials in the system
20% Auditing Plant Floor Processes- Auditing daily and weekly items on the production floor which are recurring issues
- Audit against safety and GMP standards to ensure compliance and report to manager
- Work with manager and team to develop corrective actions
- Other duties as required
Education and Experience:- Must have a “safety first” mindset
- Minimum 2 years previous experience working in Shipping/Receiving environment
- Counterbalance certified
- Minimum 1 year cycle counting experience is required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and oral)
- Ability to work independently without regular supervision
- Must possess strong computer and/or data entry skills; experience with ERP systems, excel is an asset
- Ability to use a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail - Must be a team player
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is an asset
- Post Secondary Education in business or supply chain is an asset
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Flexibility to work overtime, when needed
- Ability to work effectively in a team or independently
