Location: Programming & PromotionsSystem wide position that may be assigned to any SCPL branch.
Job Summary:The Outreach Assistant will focus on connecting with library customers at outreach opportunities, to promote library programs and services and the Summer Reading Club (SRC) - a reading contest for all ages held system-wide from June-August. The Outreach Assistant will also provide assistance at library branches with SRC registration and participant reporting.
Canada Summer Jobs Requirements:- Applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Applicant must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Applicant must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of the employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible participants under this program.
Qualifications:- Current Criminal Record Check.
- Able to travel within the city; access to reliable transportation.
- Experience working with children and/or youth.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Hours of Work:35 hours per week; weekdays, evenings and weekends as required for 8-12 weeks.
Hourly Rate:$16.60 - $17.60 per hour (Ontario Minimum Wage)
