Position Summary:The Student Support & Inclusive Learning Representative provides front-line operational coordination and service delivery for Counselling Services and Accessible Learning Services (ALS) at the St. James, Waterfront and Casa Loma campuses. Serving as a primary point of access for students seeking academic, accessibility, and mental health support, the incumbent ensures a welcoming, inclusive, and responsive service environment while managing a high volume of complex student inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinates front-line service delivery for Counselling Services, Accessible Learning Services (ALS), and related student support units.
- Assesses student inquiries and determine appropriate services, triaging students to counselling, accessibility, conduct, or other campus resources based on level of need, urgency, and complexity.
- Responds to distressed or crisis situations using de-escalation strategies and determine when escalation to professional staff or emergency supports is required.
- Manages high-volume communications (in person, phone, and email) and prioritize requests according to risk, urgency, and service impact.
- Assesses and processes ALS intake applications and supporting documentation within the student accommodation system.
- Determines completeness and appropriateness of documentation and approves application materials in accordance with departmental guidelines and accessibility requirements.
- Maintains accurate and confidential student records, ensuring compliance with institutional and privacy legislation requirements.
- Provides guidance to students on accessibility registration, counselling services, and college processes to support access to services.
- Evaluates student needs and coordinates referrals to appropriate academic, financial, health, and student support services across the College.
- Supports operational effectiveness of the front desk through coordination of communications, resources, office logistics, and departmental activities.
Educational and Experience Requirements:- Completed two-year post secondary education program from a recognized post-secondary institution in Social work, Community work, Human services or equivalency.
- Mental Health First Aid, Suicide, AOP, or related training is required.
- Minimum 3 years practical experience providing administrative support and demonstrated experience triaging and responding professionally to students in distress and/or crisis in a busy, high-paced, client-centred office environment.
- Requires knowledge of both in-polytechnic services available as well as external resources for student support for most suitable referrals and immediate crisis response.
- Experience working with populations from various equity-deserving populations and/or commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
