Want to gain valuable hands-on experience with the largest entertainment event on Halifax’s summer calendar? The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is seeking two Production Assistants for a 10-week summer student position to support the planning and delivery of the 2026 Tattoo.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a post-secondary student to work directly with the Tattoo’s production team and gain practical experience in arts administration, event logistics, marketing, sponsorship support, volunteer coordination, and live event operations. The successful candidates will be mentored and trained in the period leading up to the production and will play an important support role in helping deliver one of Nova Scotia’s signature cultural events.
The ideal candidates are creative, organized, personable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where deadlines matter and no two days are the same.
Position DetailsTerm of Employment: 10 weeks, beginning April 27, 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour
Position SummaryProduction Assistants will support a broad range of marketing, administrative, and event-related activities associated with the 2026 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. This role is well suited to a student interested in building professional experience in live entertainment, cultural events, communications, and production support.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidates will assist with a variety of duties, including:
- Supporting the Tattoo’s marketing and communications efforts through content creation and social media management
- Assisting with the Tattoo’s social media channels, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and Spotify
- Helping plan and provide logistical support for supplementary events such as the Tattoo Festival and Canada Day Parade
- Providing general office and administrative support, including answering telephones, greeting guests, data entry, updating spreadsheets, creating performer identification tags, and running errands
- Assisting with sponsorship fulfillment to help ensure sponsor commitments are delivered accurately and professionally
- Assisting with volunteer coordination support as required
- Supporting day-to-day production office activities as assigned by the Tattoo team
QualificationsApplicants must:
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Be active on social media and comfortable assisting with digital content and platform management
- Have strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate attention to detail, sound organizational ability, and creativity
- Be personable, reliable, and able to work under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
- Be eligible to provide proof of post-secondary enrolment for September 2026 classes
Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in a Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related post-secondary program.
The following will be considered assets:
- Experience with video editing
- Experience with photo editing
- Experience with graphic design
- Experience supporting production, events, or live entertainment environments
