Salary Range:The salary range for this position is $83,000 to $114,000. The final offer will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and internal equity considerations. Please note that the offer may fall anywhere within the posted range and is not necessarily at the top end.

Overview:Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for reviewing design submissions and monitoring and inspecting construction activities to ensure compliance with approved design submissions and contractual requirements.

Key Accountabilities- Supports the technical team in the review and coordination of various submissions including design drawings, over-arching plans, and construction work plans.
- Coordinates land requests including drafting notification letters to required stakeholders and coordinating handover on site.
- Reviews documentation received from the design-build contractor (e.g., material specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans, drawings, test results, and other technical documentation) to gather information about the project.
- Monitors the contractor’s compliance with professional and regulatory requirements, technical specifications, design drawings and owner requirements.
- Monitor’s construction progress and quantity tracking and provides regular site reports that include all observations, concerns, potential issues to ensure project deliverables are compliant with the approved designs and project requirements.
- Develops Daily Site Reports.
- Interprets and informs on Design-Build Agreement as appropriate.
- Attends construction meetings and supports the coordination and management of project interfaces between contractors and the mitigation of construction risks.
- Provides feedback on the validity of claims received from the contractor.
- Provides support to the Province’s Quality Manager, Traffic Manager and Construction Manager with respect to identifying potential non-conformances.
Qualifications- Degree in Civil Engineering, registered as a professional engineer, and significant experience in construction monitoring and inspecting activities on large heavy civil projects, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with structural works and civil works.
- Experience analyzing potential issues and developing solutions to mitigate impacts.
- Knowledge of Quality Management principles.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specification, codes and standards.
- Sound judgement, excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and prioritizing skills to anticipate and assess situations and determine best solution or course of action.
- Exceptional relationship, communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders.
