OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to lead engineering execution across a portfolio of capital upgrade projects within a major civil infrastructure environment.
This role is based on-site in Saint John, New Brunswick and requires a strong background in civil engineering. Ideal candidates will bring experience across large-scale infrastructure sectors such as railways, highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, hospitals, or similar civil works.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in tracking, managing, and delivering capital projects, ensuring engineering excellence, schedule adherence, and financial discipline across ongoing upgrades and expansions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting capital projects
- Oversee project engineering activities to ensure delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget
- Track and manage capital project upgrades, ensuring accurate reporting and execution progress
- Partner closely with construction, operations, and external contractors to drive project outcomes
- Establish and refine project engineering processes, standards, and best practices
- Monitor project financials, including budget tracking and cost control
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively
- Prepare regular reporting and updates for senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
- Support coordination of cross-border project activities, including monthly travel to U.S. sites
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline essential
- Strong background in construction-focused civil engineering environments
- Experience within infrastructure sectors such as rail, highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, hospitals, OR large-scale civil projects essential
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams on complex projects
- Solid understanding of project management principles and delivery frameworks
- Experience tracking and managing capital projects and related financials
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, site-based environment
- Willingness to travel monthly to the United States
