OverviewIn search ofConstruction estimator to work closely with our Operations Manager and Project Leads. Individual will be responsible for preparing estimates on general renovation and construction projects as per client provided spec or personal measurements taken on site. Once estimates are accepted Candidate will be responsible for project tracking and updates to clients. Must have experience in project estimating and administration procedures.
We serve Western Alberta, travel to Saskatchewan, British Columbia and various locations with in Alberta will be required.
Our ideal candidate is highly organized, has a keen eye for detail and excellent numerical skills. Someone who can work under tight deadlines and is a quick problem solver.
Job Duties- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Visit various sites to take measurements and review schematics. Sites located across Western Canada.
- Using computer software to calculate estimates and prepare detailed reports or bids for management, client, or project team
- Enact tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards.
- Monitor tendering process, costs and reporting.
- Prepare project updates for clients at regular intervals for the duration of a project
- Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Collaborating closely with subcontractors, engineers, architects and clients to understand the requirements and complexities of a project
- Coordinate construction project with Operations Manager & Project Managers and prepare construction progress schedules (Gantt Charts)
Requirements- Proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, site operations, and project management principles.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with clients and subcontractors.
- Experience with Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup.
- Solid understanding of contracts, scope of work development, and cost control strategies.
- Construction site experience that provides practical insight into field operations and safety protocols.
- Effective communication skills for liaising across teams and stakeholders at all levels.
