We are seeking a seasonal cook/chef for a private family camp located in Killarney, Ontario. This individual will be responsible for planning menus, procuring ingredients, and preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for camp guests. The ideal candidate enjoys cooking in a relaxed camp setting while maintaining professional kitchen standards.
This role includes menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
Job Responsibilities- Plan and prepare meals for weekly visitors ranging from 4–12 guests.
- Guest typically change weekly so meals can be repeated throughout the summer.
- Occasionally plan and prepare meals for larger groups of up to 18 guests
- Develop menus that accommodate dietary needs and restrictions
- Order and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, safe, and hygienic at all times
- Manage all food service operations, including meal planning, ordering, preparation, and clean-up
- Monitor kitchen equipment and appliances to ensure proper safety and functionality
- Serve as the liaison between kitchen team members, management, and camp stakeholders to ensure clear communication and smooth daily operations
Qualifications- Previous experience as a cook or chef in a similar role
- Maintaining food safety and sanitation protocols
- Ability to plan and execute daily menu that delights guests and owners.
- Prepare meals for small to moderately sized groups
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely board and disembark from boats
- Flexibility and ability to collaborate with team members and guests
- Professional and reliable with a strong attention to detail
- Customer service experience preferred
- First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset
Hours & LocationThe position is located at a private multi-home family camp on George Island, approximately a 5-minute boat ride from the village of Killarney. Daily transportation to and from the island will be provided.
Schedule- Monday–Friday (Split Shift)
- Breakfast service typically 7:00–9:00 AM
- Dinner typically served around 6:30 PM (with preparation time in the afternoon)
- Weekends off
SeasonPreferred availability from May 15 through September, with some flexibility of one to two weeks on either side.
Compensation:Base pay of $1,600-$1,675 CAD paid every two weeks, based on experience in addition to guest tips provided at the discretion of each guest.
Guest tips are paid in USD.
End-of-season completion bonus of a minimum $1,000 based on overall performance and guest/owner satisfaction
