As a Senior Compensation Specialist, you’ll take ownership of compensation programs, HR analytics, and HR systems reporting. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, critical thinking, and improving how things are done — not just following existing processes.
What You’ll Do- Own the end‑to‑end compensation lifecycle, including salary reviews, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentive programs (RSUs, stock options, DSUs, PSUs).
- Lead market pricing and benchmarking across Canada and the U.S., ensuring roles are properly matched and internally equitable.
- Analyze compensation data to identify trends, risks, and inconsistencies, and provide clear, defensible recommendations to senior leaders.
- Support compensation decisions for new hires, promotions, and internal transfers, balancing market data with internal context.
- Manage and validate a complex, spreadsheet‑driven annual bonus process involving multiple leadership groups and structures.
- Partner closely with Finance on compensation budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Act as the owner of HR analytics and reporting, building, automating, and maintaining dashboards and reports using HR systems and BI tools.
- Proactively review data before distribution, anticipating executive‑level and board‑level questions.
- Identify upstream data issues (e.g., job changes, leveling discrepancies) and work with HR partners to correct them.
- Serve as the primary point person for HR systems reporting and analytics, working with IT and external vendors as needed.
- Support HR projects, system enhancements, and process improvements related to compensation and reporting.
- Assist with immigration and global mobility tracking in partnership with external advisors.
What You Bring- 5+ years of experience managing compensation programs end‑to‑end.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to question data and spot inconsistencies before they become issues.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex spreadsheets).
- Experience working with an HRIS and producing HR analytics and reporting (experience with UKG and BI tools is an asset).
- Confidence engaging with senior leaders and following up to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- High attention to detail, particularly when working with compensation and people data.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills in deadline‑driven environments.
- Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to adapt in environments where processes are evolving and judgment matters.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is an asset, not a requirement.
