What You Will DoReporting to the Manager - RAMS, you will be responsible for safety activities relating to new vehicles, charging infrastructure, system acquisitions and applications.
Other responsibilities of your role will include:
- Working closely with external suppliers as a project-specific hazard controller in the verification and validation of processes to ensure compliance with the system assurance requirements and performance of safety compliance audits, and with internal customers in development and acceptance of solutions.
- Providing safety engineering support services relating to new transit vehicles, system acquisitions, charging infrastructure, and applications through monitoring, validating, and auditing supplier’s System Safety and Assurance Plans and other plans developed to support TTC policies and the Commission-wide System Safety Plan.
- Developing, managing and implementing Vehicle and System Safety Certification Plans and Safe Operating Procedures in conjunction with suppliers; inspecting and monitoring related equipment; conducting risk assessments; and ensuring work is completed within defined timeframes and budgets.
- Coordinating all activities relating to assigned safety and systems engineering aspects of transit vehicles, charging infrastructure, and equipment acquisition projects and programs.
- Developing and collaborating in the development of specifications, standards and System Safety Certification Plans and System Safety Program Plans for various transit vehicles applications.
- Preparing, reviewing, monitoring and managing project-specific hazard logs, in the capacity of a hazard controller.
- Coordinating and auditing vehicle design, manufacture and commissioning to ensure compliance with safety legislation, standards, specifications and operating protocols.
- Conducting safety compliance audits to ensure that safety components on new vehicles and charging systems meet or exceed engineering specifications.
- Liaising with internal stakeholder departments and suppliers as necessary to ensure smooth implementation and transfer of knowledge and responsibility, including development of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Managing technical reviews of FMEA/FMECA, FTA, and hazard analysis for electric and rail systems.
- Additionally, this role may involve traveling within Ontario, Canada, and worldwide throughout the stages of new transit vehicles and equipment design, development, manufacturing, delivery, etc. as required.
- Participating in the TTC's Customer Service Ambassador Program

What Qualifications Do You Bring?- Your educational background will consist of the completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical Engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
