Rate: $50/hr T4 OR $65/hr Inc.
OverviewOur client, is seeking an experienced Server Administrator to support and stabilize a critical enterprise infrastructure environment following a recent corporate transition. With the previous IT team no longer in place, this role is essential to maintaining operational continuity, ensuring system stability, and proactively managing risks across a complex server landscape. This position will play a key role in a “keep the lights on” environment, focusing on preventive maintenance, monitoring, and ongoing operational support to ensure zero-day risks are mitigated and systems remain secure, compliant, and highly available.
Environment- Approximately 180 virtualized servers
- Multi-domain environment, including support for an external domain
- VMware-based infrastructure with Microsoft Azure integration
- Managed services framework with established tooling and processes
Key Responsibilities- Maintain server uptime, availability, and operational stability across the environment
- Perform server administration, including patching, updates, and compliance management
- Proactively monitor systems and remediate issues before they impact operations
- Ensure systems are secure, hardened, and aligned with security best practices
- Support multi-domain infrastructure and coordinate across environments
- Utilize monitoring and ticketing tools to track, manage, and resolve incidents
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and SMEs to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in system reliability, performance, and automation
Required Qualifications- Degree/Diploma in Computer Sciences or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in server administration within enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server administration
- Proven experience managing VMware-based virtualized environments
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, monitoring, or integrations)
- Solid understanding of patch management and deployment tools (e.g., SCCM)
- Experience with monitoring tools, preferably Azure Monitor
- Knowledge of security best practices, including system hardening, MFA, and patch compliance
- Experience working with ticketing systems (e.g., ManageEngine)
- Ability to work independently in a remote, globally distributed support model
Nice-to-Have Skills- Exposure to Cisco networking technologies
- Experience with Fortinet firewalls
- Background in large, VMware-heavy enterprise environments
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting
